I view the service Super Movers PDX provides here in Portland as an Exchange of Energy. Our skills, experience, muscles, brains, effort, ethics, and humility are all things we offer in exchange for, what we all want, money. But to us it's more than that. We strive to do it in a manner that makes a difference to our customers. If it's finding a way to get "All That Stuff" to fit in the truck, figuring out how to get the Washer up "Those Stairs", or something like "Don't let the Cat Out.", we can and will meet your moving needs. We enjoy what we do and we also know that our customers Don't Like to Move. Who does? You need our help and we get that. So little things we can do to help make moving a smooth transition for you and your family come naturally. I hand pick crew leads and crew members that aren't just good movers, but they're good hearted people who understand that I'm the boss... But We Work For YOU!
We sat down with our owner, Scott, and asked him a few questions about the Moving Business, Portland, OR, and his love for cooking on a charcoal grill. How long have you been involved in the moving business? When the economy tanked on us all back in 2008 I started looking for ways to make some extra money on the weekends. I noticed some guys down the street from me unloading a truck full of household goods into a home and saw they had matching shirts. I talked to the boss and the next thing you know I was working for them. What inspired you to start Super Movers PDX? My wife actually suggested it. She saw how good I was at it and how much I loved it. I always came home with the best stories after moving and raved about how nice the customers were. She said "You should start your own moving company." So I did. How long have you lived in the Portland area? I moved here in 2005. I am originally from New Orleans. But Portland stole my heart. I may just stay here forever. You call Super Movers PDX a "Moving Labor Company", how is that different from a "Moving Company"? It's simple. We bring everything but the truck. Dollies, Furniture pads, floor covers, straps, bungees, plastic wrap, etc. Oh, and also Muscles and Smiles. Our customer rent and drive the truck themselves. They save a TREMENDOUS amount of money that way. We only charge them for the labor we provide. We even assemble and disassemble furniture if needed. What do you love about the Portland Metro area? Diversity! I grew up where Cajun and Creole were the way of life. I also lived in Memphis, TN which is known for BBQ and the Blues. But Portland has it ALL. I never get bored in this town. Rain or Shine, there's always something to do. Why do people choose Super Movers over the other moving companies out there? First and Foremost, We do what we say we'll do. We're always on time. We're presentable, knowledgeable, and courteous. We work fast and safe. I can't tell you how many times our customers have said "You guys sure don't work like you get paid hourly.". We realize that NO ONE likes to move. So we try to make it a fun and safe experience. What areas do you serve? We do moves all over. We're based out of Beaverton but we work in Vancouver, North Portland, Gresham, Oregon City, West Linn, Gladstone, Tualatin, Sherwood, Tigard, Hillsboro, Clackamas, The Pearl District, The West hills. Pretty much anywhere withing a 30 mile radius of downtown. We are also "Pet Friendly". We love our fuzzy little helpers. What's this talk about you being an expert on the Grill? Hahaha! Well about 3 years ago when I met my wife I bragged about how I would dazzle her with an incredible steak. I grilled a beautiful bone-in-rib eye and served it to her. She was not impressed. two nights later she returned the favor and served me the BEST STEAK I had ever eaten. I asked her how she did it. She told me she took a grilling class in Lake Oswego. So I signed up. Well guess who cooks the steaks now? ME! My wife and my kids rave and brag about my grill expertise. I will say I'm pretty proud of myself about it too. |
